MANJIMA KURIAKOSE popularly known as
Manjima, Deputy Commandant (Additional Superintendent of Police) CRPF - Central
Reserve Police Force is an Indian track and field athlete from the state of Kerala. She has been associated with Indian athletics since 1998.
She is regarded as one of the greatest athletes in India. She was born in
village Manathavady, District Wayanad of Kerala. She is highly decorated
Athlete and was enlisted in CRPF as constable against sports quota and as grown
to the level of high grade gazetted officer because of her sheer hard work and
her commitment and dedication towards her love for the game and for the
Country. The Journey of her athletic prowess spanned over 15 years (1992-2007),
she started from her school days and reached its ultimate glory in 2000 when
she participate in Sydney Olympics for 4X400 Meters Relay race. She has
innumerable medals in her athletic career and a lot many at very highly rated
national and international athletic meets. In all, Manjima has won more than
100 International, National & State level medals, for her excellence in
Athletics out of which Gold Medal at 14th International Asian Games
– 2002 in Busan & another Gold medal at Jakarta Asian track and field meet in 2002 are the diamonds in her
crown.
She also served as Assistant Commandant
(Deputy Superintendent of Police) in Liberia, Africa on deputation during the
year 2010 – 2011 for UN (United Nations) from India. Apart from being a superb
Athlete, she is a very good officer. Her career and service towards nation is
praise worthy. She has been rated consistently as “very good” officer for the
last 17 years of her service in CRPF in which she served the nation across all
states thereby assuring the rule of law and nation safety for the people of
India. She is hardworking and fully devoted to her duties.
CRPF has also proudly announced her as
a person of pride to have an officer of her stature in service. It also
mentioned that she has contributed a lot to the organisation and nation as a
whole in terms of Gold medals, Silver medals and Bronze medals won at many
International and National athletic meets and thereby has given us many moments
of glory.
She has been felicitated by numerous
Sports Associations, State Organisations & Governments for her tremendous
achievement in the field including Cash Rewards.
Manjima was born to Mr. Kuriakose &
Mrs. Valsa Kuriakose. She has 2 Siblings, 1 brother & 1 sister. Manjima started to win state level medals
from her school days. She joined B.Com in Vimala College, Thrissur in 1995 from
where she participated in state level athlete meet and won Silver medal in Long
Jump which drew the attention of CRPF athlete coaches that turned her life and
made way for her to join to CRPF in 1996.
Though she has not completed her B.Com.
degree later she went to get her B.A. degree from Alagappa University.
Inspirations and Support that she got from the staffs of Vimala College had
made her to focus more on her game which lead her to the reach the position of
where she is now. Apart from Sports, Manjima is also good at many other things.
She has participated in all Arts & Stage events in her school and college.
She has been an All-Rounder in her school & college days and received many
awards. She was also a member of NSS in her School & College days.

Though her Professional career has been
with so many Ups and Downs she has fought hard and reached the level of where
she is right now. She has been inspiration and role model not only for many of
other sports personnel’s but also to all ladies who works with her and even to
the kids. She has been very kind person and never hesitated to render her help
to those who are in need.
Manjima has been serving the nation for
the last 17 years in CRPF across states like J&K, Delhi, UP (Ayodhya –
Ayodhya Temple), Nagaland (Kohima) & Maharastra as Assistant Commandant
(Deputy Superintendent of Police) and at present she is serving as Deputy Commandant (Additional Superintendent of Police), thereby
assuring the safety of the people of India. Either on-field as an Athlete or
off the field as an officer she has always put her heart and soul for the
Nation and the People of Nation for their safety & security and made the
nation Proud. She has been the true Patriot and the Citizen of the Nation. She
is Pride of the Nation.
Most Special Achievements - Sports :
- Won more than 100 Medals including Gold Medal, Silver Medal & Bronze Medal at State, National & International Level.

meet record team in 4x400 Meters Relay Race.

- Hard Service Medal for service in J&K.
- Internal Security Medal.
- 50 Years Independence day Celebration Medal.
